A New Beginning for a Hip Hop Class
By Serena Hockenbury
A new Hip Hop class started off as an idea from a few students and a couple of teachers. These students are Shaffiria Dortch, Nilajah Jones, and Kalizjah Britt along with teachers Ms. Nisbeth and Dr. Larson wrote the curriculum for this class. They met up during the summer at East High with the students and talked about how they can really make a hip hop class.
In this class we discuss the history of hip hop and how it all started. Currently we’re coming up with ideas for our upcoming showcase on May 31st. This performance will not only be fun and enjoyable but it will also teach the audience more about hip hop and how hip hop has had a historical effect on us and how hip hop can bring everyone together.
