As a kid I always wanted to grow up and have my own car. As I got older, the thought of having a car just excited me. When I was 16 and I got a job, I started to save up money to try and buy a car. I did not know all I had to do to keep my car running and to maintain it. I bought my car in August. It’s a Nissan Altima, which I still have, and it runs okay but it needs some fixing. I didn't realize that I needed so much for the car. The car needed the registration and inspection. Also, when someone has a car they need to buy gas for it unless it's an electrical car. But when everything adds up it's a lot of money that I just put into the car. Unless your parents support you and give you whatever you want, then teens are going to have to work so you can pay those things and keep your car up to date. Teens don't realize that when you have a car there's so much that you have to do. It's not just pay for gas and that's it. There’s maintenance, oil changes, and insurance in additional to registration and inspections. I work so much throughout the week just to keep my car good and to keep my family happy. Cars are expensive and need to be taken care of on a regular basis especially if the weather is changing constantly. So do your research and make a plan before you buy a car. It’s worth it, but you don’t want to get blindsided by all the additional costs.
