Although our volleyball record wasn’t what we expected we still keep our East High spirits alive. Sports are not about winning or losing it’s more about working as a team and having fun. Varsity Boys Volleyball Coach Barley states, “Usually the first thing you see is how our team responds to adversity.” This shows that our team knows when they need improving and that comes from great leadership from our three captains Maurice Coney, Howard Eagle, and Kaori Barley. The worst part of this season was the losses but, our players did not let that overcome them. They still went out each week and tried their best and played with their heart and spirit. For next season our coach Mr. Barley will try to improve the scholars’ skills, strength, and serving. Barley states that “we need more ball control and that’s going to take a lot more practice.” Barley will make sure our boys will be ready for next season and have a better record than last year. For any further questions go see Coach Barley in room D243.

You are so right, Miguel. High school athletes remember their athletic experiences for years to come, and not only because of the wins and losses, but because of the experience itself and the great memories made. I appreciate the way that you captured that in this piece as well as some of the specifics about what the team is hoping to improve for next season. Well done!
