How big of an impact does journalism have on our society? Journalism gives us the chance to get informed on what’s going on around us. Journalism is here to keep us in the loop about everything, whether the news is big or small. Without journalism we would be clueless on things happening around us that can affect us.
The whole point of journalism is for everything to be out in the open. Journalists expose everything that is being hidden from us that we need to know. Not all journalism is fair and trustworthy, but most of it is and overall no matter how biased some journalism companies might be, we can get straight facts if we critically consider the information being presented to us. Journalism is important and vital to our society.
Journalism exposes the bad sides of many big names and businesses. Because of this, a lot of businesses and people are trying to censor journalists. President Donald Trump has spoken out about what he thinks is “fake news,” because it seems he only wants what he thinks is important to be in the media. Which is not only wrong, but weakens the very democracy our country is founded on. There are many different opinions and perspectives from the many people in America, and censoring the media is not only unfair, it is dangerous. Undermining the credibility of the media makes it difficult for citizens to make informed decisions based on facts.
Manipulation of media is dangerous. We're going to be left out on important details and decisions made towards our country, because politicians want to control information. With these changes going on around us, everyone should pay close attention to everything and try to do their own research and find sources that are reliable, ethical, and provide us with the news we need.
