Part of his month’s issue features writing from our Spanish speaking scholars from Dr. Mazurett-Boyle’s Spanish Language Arts 1 class. These essays use the historical genre of Testimonio which originates with the colonized as a way to document and give voice to their suffering under the rules of the Spanish Empire in the Americas. Rigoberta Menchu, Guatemala’s human rights activist and Nobel Prize winner 1992, book Me llamo Rigov erta Menchu y asi me nacio la conciencia is a clear example of this narrative genre. ¡Feliz lectura!
