By Keren Montero I think it is safe to say that this year took quite a turn but we made it! WE MADE IT! After all the complaining and hassle we finally get to turn a tassel. I just want to thank you guys for making my high school experience so much fun. I meant you guys in 7th grade, (most of us had Mr. McManus together) and we just all clicked. Thank you for the happy moments, the sad moments, moments where we thought we were going to give up on some classes but we pulled through and had each other to push and lean on to keep going. I can't express how much I love you guys and how much thanks I want to give for putting up with me and still being there for me when I thought I was going down. You guys kept me pushing and kept me up to standard because you guys saw potential in me and knew that I had a lot going for me. I love how we show care to each other in our own unique way and that's why we all just click together. I still remember earlier in the year when we sat in Ms. Turner’s office and we cried our eyes out together just because it was our senior year and it would be the last time we would be in classes together. It’s our time to shine and stay focused now. Let’s be successful! And a shout out to my 2 favorite secretaries! Ms. Turner and Mrs. Claudette. You kept me pushing. Ms. Turner, you always offered your shoulder to cry on and your ear to listen to my problems. You became like a second mom to me in school. You showed me and reminded me daily that I had a bright future and that you believed in me. You not only helped me in school but you cared for me outside of school as well. You helped me with college, helped me when I was overwhelmed and wanted to drop classes, and you sat and talked me through some of my personal problems. People like you are the reason a lot of kids look forward to coming to school. A lot of kids see you as more than “staff;” you became family to them and for that thank you. Mrs. Claudette, you are such an amazing person and I'm so happy that I got the chance to create a bond with you this year. You were the person that kept me laughing and I knew I could always count on you for anything. I will miss seeing you early in the morning with your big smile. Always stay happy and laugh. You are also a person that a lot of students count on and can see more as a friend. Thank you for everything and I will miss you both!

By Hunter White Going to East High School since the 10th grade has opened me up to better opportunities for my future and as a person. Although COVID-19 ruined my senior year, I made it. I’m still happy to graduate and move on to the next chapter of my life which is going to Saint John Fisher College to major in Computer Science. It's been a tough ride through high school but I made it. The memories of high school that I will always remember are football, track and wrestling. Sports were the most positive thing for me in my high school experience. I thank my coaches and my teachers that have supported me throughout high school and it will be sad to see them go. As I move from high school I have more responsibilities as I have to deal with the real world. I have to make my own choices and I have to take care of myself. I encourage all future students to make the best of what you have and the opportunities and privileges that you are given. High school will go by quick, and you may say that you won't miss high school but you will. You will miss being on a set schedule from 8am to 3:25pm, you will miss coming to school late just to get some food, you will miss not having to worry about the real world and most importantly you will miss being a teenager. There will be times in your life where you have to let go and move on to something greater, something different and the next chapter in your life where you have more responsibilities and you have to make a living for yourself. The end of high school is just the beginning. By Kentavia Brunson Through all the years that I have been at East there are some teachers that made a big impact on me. I didn’t always have the motivation to go to school, to do homework or complete any work. I want to say thank you to Mrs. Delehanty. She has made one of the biggest impacts on me. Being with her since 9th grade to 12th she got the chance to see me grow as a person. Mrs. Delehanty always made sure that I was good, she made sure that if I wasn’t doing well in a class she helped me with anything I needed. I also want to say thank you for not only being a teacher to me but also being someone I can talk to about anything and giving me an extra push. I also want to say thank you to Ms. Dubiel and Mrs. Flaherty. They also helped me a lot and gave me motivation. Although this was my first year with Ms. Dubiel she pushed me to do better gave me the energy and motivation to do work. When I was behind she was there to help me with anything I needed. Mrs. Flaherty also had the chance to see me grow as a person, although I wasn’t with her this year she still kept in touch, made sure I was all caught up with work and on the right track. These are teachers I will never forget, so thank you for all that you have done for me in my years at East High School. By Jaheim Jones Since my 2014-2015 year of high school I’ve been going to East high school for 5 years from 7th grade through 12th grade. Honestly I wouldn’t have had it any other way because East High school made me the person I am today. Also seeing the school age and the people along with it make it a little harder to let go. The year I was enrolled in East the building was relocated back to East Main St. It was almost gone forever if it wasn’t for the U of R. Back then I went to school with my older brother Shyheim. He was outgoing and I was more to myself. In school we were complete opposites, nobody ever believed we were blood brothers. I also had a cousin named Jermaine who also went to the school with us along with his younger sister Deshawna who also always stood to herself like me. And I made some friends in my family like Chris, Nettie and Richord. At that time I had a brush cut with a taper. Much skinnier than I am now and skin was lighter first starting at East. Since those years a lot has changed but I have been through a lot. In total I have 31 credits, 5 Regents and 3 college credits. I have won a $500 Scholarship from and Summit Federal Credit Union and a scholarship from Wegmans. I have been involved in, Hillside, Y.E.T.A , JV and Varsity Football, Wrestling, JV lacrosse, Student Government, East High Eagle Eye Report and jazz band. I also want to pursue a career in music production and live recording, something that is a passion for me. School spirit has always been live, meaning our crowds were big and our teams showed no mercy on the competition. This year our 2019-2020 athletes in Football received a silver medal in states, while our basketball team did better and received a gold medal in states competing with the best teams ranked in section 5. During my time in school I've been learning everything I can about music production. Being here at East gave me inspiration from my coaches, teachers and family on what life should be like. Now officially a graduate of East High school I will go away for my high school days but I will never forget them. |
